The Israeli Occupation continues to adopt the policy of evacuating Palestinians from their homeland allowing Jewish settlers to take their place. Authorities kill home owners and demolish houses forcing Palestinians to leave their land. These actions are a complete violation to international law since forced evacuation is considered a war crime against humanity.
The latest of these actions took place after a court in the Palestinian occupied lands Monday ordered the rightful Palestinian owners in Om Hayran village to leave their homes in a final order following an appeal to the initial ruling on April 5.
Human Rights Monitor calls on the court to revoke the unjust order which threatens the lives of hundreds of Palestinians leaving them homeless and without shelter or protection. It calls on the international community to pressure the order before it is implemented in two weeks.
HRM condemns the allegations by the Israeli government that it will provide the villagers with alternative homes in a nearby village stating that the occupation is trying to cover up its crime by offering substitute housing especially since the alternative village is in fact already overcrowded and under no circumstances will it be able to accommodate more people.
The Israeli Occupation continues to practice the enforced evacuation of civilians as it had since it began pressuring them to leave their lands since 1948. During the last 67 years the occupation has worked hard on preventing services making livelihood difficult for the Palestinians forcing them to leave.
HRM urges the international community to prevent the Israeli occupation from evacuating the people of Om Hayran and Kharb Zabala paving the way for Israeli settlers as they had done in 1948.In addition to preventing public services such as clean water, sewage and electricity other crimes include looting the lands, demolishing homes and disregarding appeals by Palestinian home and land owners expelled 67 years ago take place.
HRM highlights that the rule against the villagers of Om Hayran to demolish houses and prevent services is unjust and biased adding that the international law warns of evacuating residents from their homes. Article 49 which was drawn up to protect civilians in the 1949 Geneva convention stipulates that the Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies and Israeli is obliged to respect the law regardless of its reasons.
