Sabah Mubarak Ishtoy 40, died Tuesday from injuries sustained after he was hit by a missile outside the Abu Badr Mosque in Rafah in North Sinai.
Eye witnesses reported that the missile came from a nearby military checkpoint hitting Sabah who was waiting for the evening prayer outside the mosque. The shrapnel which covered his body led to his death hours later.
HRM condemned the security measures practiced in North Sinai confirming that civilians are subjected to arbitrary arrests and attacks without justifications.
The military continues to arrest civilians and enforcing their disappearance in military camp grounds alleging they are safeguarding the area. Some detainees remain missing with no information regarding their location while others are found in the desert long after they are killed.
Egyptian security forces deny killing or being involved in the victims' elimination to avoid accountability by foreign or national bodies or international human rights organizations.
