The family of student Mahmoud Mustafa Ibrahim Alwaraqy AKA Mahmoud Alwaraqy 21 from Shebin el Kom Menofeya submitted a complaint stating that Egyptian police abducted him and 2 of his friends Mustafa Mousa and Osama Saeed el Deen without legal support. The youths were arrested while purchasing clothes from Haram Street.
The family has submitted several complaints to the attorney and prosecutor general calling for information regarding their whereabouts however has received no response. The abduction has negatively affected the family which is concerned for their son's safety.
The abduction and enforce disappearance of the students is a flagrant violation to Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which asserts everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person. It also infringes Article 7 of which reads no one shall be subjected to torture International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights e or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. In particular, no one shall be subjected without his free consent to medical or scientific experimentation.
HRM urges the authorities to respond to the family's complaints and to disclose where their son and his friends are being held and to immediately release them if no evidence is found. It also calls on them to respect the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
