Massoni…more than 131 days missing and security apparatus continues to deny holding him in their custody
According to his family a complaint was submitted on November 4th, 2015 informing the prosecutor general of his abduction. They called for an investigation to be opened by national security and prosecution since he was last seen on Kasr el Ainy Rd. Information circulated allowing he was seen at the Lazoghly State Security Building. He has been missing for more than 131 days without any official response regarding his abduction and disappearance. His brother filed a complaint number 2886 at the Qatameya Police Station requesting information.
The action is a clear violation by Egyptian authorities to Article 1 of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance which reads:
1. No one shall be subjected to enforced disappearance.
2. No exceptional circumstances whatsoever, whether a state of war or a threat of war, internal political instability or any other public emergency, may be invoked as a justification for enforced disappearance.
HRM calls on the authorities to immediately disclose where the detainee is being held and to promptly release him allowing him to practice all his rights and to hold all responsible for his abduction and disappearance accountable.
